On Tuesday Nov 22d 2022, we finished cycling at Cape Agulhas, the most southern point on the African continent.
With this, I have now completed by human power the longest “route” on earth from Uelen, in far eastern Russia to Cape Agulhas, South Africa.
For years, we thought we will start the row across the Atlantic Ocean from Lüderitz, Namibia to get to Brazil but quite a few friends over the last few years have been asking me repeatedly:
“Hey, have you heard of the longest route in the world? Why don’t you push further on your Nexus Expedition route to Cape Agulhas and get it done?”
So, this is why we ended up at Cape Agulhas and are now planning to row in Dec 2023 from Cape Town to Brazil.
Absolutely no regret for having made this decision.
I need to tabulate all the numbers but it has taken me approximately 40,000 kms to get here from the start, X amount of days/years to get here… and crossed so far 28 countries: USA, Russia, Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.
Cheers and let’s keep this ball rolling!
